A litter of 50% F1's being basically genetically identical, all ten pups naturally turned out almost exactly the same in appearance, save for colour. Looking at Lutro's tan-sable sister was like holding Lutro up to a mirror. :-) This is in stark contrast to, say, a 50% F2 (one or more *grand*parents being pure wolf) litter, where there can be a *tremendous* amount of variation from pup to pup!

Somehow, everything from good genetics to the chemistry between us (and a large helping of plain old dumb luck!) all came together to create the perfect match many people only dream of...and I couldn't be more thankful! Lutro has so many little endearing things about him that I've come to love. The way he wants to go out on his 50' lead each day, to see if there's anyone staying over in our foster/"guest" enclosure (I no longer need to hold the handle, but I'm not quite brave enough yet to do away with the leash entirely ;-) ...the way he likes to "thread the needle" between my legs in greeting...the way he drapes the top half of himself across the bed, with his feet hanging down to the floor (almost the same way I do) when we snack on the bed or watch TV...how he'll lay beside me and carefully eat popsicles with me if it's hot out...the myriad of positions his ears can put themselves in to accentuate what he's thinking or fee! ling...how he pretends to be a Tank Shark in his stock tank during the summer, then breaks up and removes the ice that forms on it in the winter...the cute, blissful face he makes when I rub the little hollows right in front of his ears...and his charming, loving smile. We enjoy ALL of our dogs, but Lutro truly is my Golden Boy...I can't say enough good about this particular cross, and I hope everyone gets this lucky once in their lives. :-)
